2 Introducing #NatureForAll #NatureForAll is: n A global movement to inspire love of Nature. n A coalition working to increase public and cross-sectoral action for Nature conservation. n 200 partner organizations globally 31 Canadian and counting. n A growing pool of Nature-friendly practices and resources. The #NatureForAll movement was formally launched at the 2016 International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress. 2 3

3 Become a #NatureForAll Partner No matter who you are, or what organization you represent, you are probably already taking part in Nature-friendly practices. Why not make it official and become a #NatureForAll partner? As a #NatureForAll partner, you become part of the buzz. You learn about the good work being done by other organizations, and you showcase how you and your own organization are caring for Nature. As part of the #NatureForAll coalition, you will empower other individuals and organizations to do the same. 4 5

4 What s Unique About #NatureForAll? + = #NatureForAll is a current of Naturepositive energy, fed by a wealth of small and large-scale actions by organizations all over the world. Think of it as the United Nations of the conservation movement a diverse range of partners working together towards a common goal, contributing unique strengths and attributes under the shared umbrella of #NatureForAll. 6 These partners, working as a coalition, will give #NatureForAll a united voice and show how the well-being of all sectors is directly connected to the wellbeing of Nature and people, leading to an exponential increase in local and global support for Nature conservation. 7

5 Why is Caring About Nature Important? We need Nature and Nature needs us Experiences in Nature make us happier and healthier. A simple walk through a park can alleviate mental fatigue, make you more present with your family and friends, and increase your productivity at work. Indigenous peoples in Canada and all over the world have mindfully maintained harmony with Nature for many thousands of years. Traditional Indigenous cultures are intimately tied with the land. Culture includes ways of thinking, world views, values, practices, and actions. Deepening connections with our environment helps us to remember who we are; how we fit into a co-evolutionary relationship with Nature which then leads us to live our lives accordingly. For humans to survive and thrive long term, we must all understand that we are part of Nature. Chloe Dragon Smith Canadian Parks Council Happy individuals create spaces that others want to be in. They make great neighbours and increase community cohesion. Flourishing communities attract great new neighbours - and businesses and tourists as well! While many of us enjoy, appreciate and care for Nature, studies show that many others, be it through lifestyle, opportunity or circumstance, face barriers to experiencing and connecting with the natural world. #NatureForAll strives to reduce those barriers in varying regions, contexts and realities. From botanical gardens and Canada s accredited zoos and aquariums in urban areas, to national parks and protected areas, people of all ages and backgrounds should share the benefits that Nature connectivity brings. Nature conservation is essential for human health and well-being. n Connection to Nature develops when people spend time outdoors. n Support for Nature increases when people feel connected to it.
