1 Extreme Energy Event Monitor (e3e) is a unique, technology driven social enterprise, which envisions making data about explosions publicly available real-time. What we want is to build independent, sustainable product, which will provide humanitarian agencies and business with required information and help people around the world avoid explosions as much as it possible to reduce damage from extreme energy events and achieve peace. As the prospective issue that might hinder and speed us down we see a lack of knowledge in the future communication possibilities especially in conflict zones and developing countries and the mean by which we can provide full coverage of the technology and its availability. The Initiative: Our objective is to make available the technological means on a public basis to monitor explosions and other extreme energy events in real time, objectively and with openaccess. As the main product we see information provided by the network of our detectors located throughout the globe. We are planning to divide supply of our services into three main groups. Pricing strategies will depend on type of data needed, its accuracy and specification. In order to successfully implement our idea, a team, comprised of scientists, humanitarian experts and business specialists, works multi directionally, working on design of prototype, search for supporters, partners and collaborators. Since our main product is not the detectors, but information, supply chain will be based upon make to stock basis, i.e. opening access to the information that is being produced independently from customers' demand.(push system) However, detector kits will be prepared only upon request, i.e. make to order. For pricing strategies, ABC segmentation can be applied. Treating startup as Innovative first, and functional afterwards(once network is advance to the most regions of the world). Marketing & Sales: e3e Extreme Energy Events Monitor is a unique project, which has no direct analogues. However, it is based on practices and experience of similar projects existing now, such as gunshot detectors widely installed and used in some schools, cities and conflict regions. The other successful example can be open-source technology of detecting lightening sources[blitzortung.org]. Yet, e3e is going to be even better. Impact and damage explosions cause are infinitely greater than any other disaster. Successful implementation will reduce number of victims. Analysis of several humanitarian NGOs confirm that fas and reliable information to the watching world are among the most successful means to reduce excess of violence. Free, non-for-profit option available for the global community. In order to avoid the system's misuse, for example targeting, this option will be divided into 2 components:

2 a. Reduced resolution, delayed map of the world available online and using mobile applications; b. Real-time notifications[sms, web] for affected regions only to provide safety and reduce damages from extreme energy events. INTERMEDIATE. This option is available for corporate and individual clients interested in information about particular case/region/set of events. Company or individual can buy access for detailed information in past or subscribe for real-time updates with a certain depth of detail. ADVANCED. Can only be accessed by NGOs and International Organizations. Advanced subscription grants access to full database with all information collected and high resolution, real-time tracking for peace-keeping purposes. Maintenance services will be provided as well. Detectors will be available for purchase on the initial stages. And will be sold to Gos, NGOs and IOs. As an additional option, interested people would be able to join e3e community purchasing detector kit, assembling/programming/installing it themselves. These kits will be non-profit option and will be used just for the purpose of increasing network. As it can be seen, market potential is unlimited. First option is available for free, so seem to be interesting for anyone. We see governmental organizations for 1million+ cities, airlines, media, scientists and layers/prosecutors as potential customers for the second, intermediate offer. Third is narrowly oriented for the specific audience, however is expected to become the main source of income to guarantee a self-sustainable operation with fundamental partnerships. Previously mentioned existing technologies cannot be treated as our competitors, but friends. The only possibility to compete with us is to create analogous detector system, however our USP can be handy in this case. Our Unique Selling Point is our inter-disciplinary network, especially in Geneva. Geneva hosts CERN(the biggest particle physics research center in the world) for scientific advances and is the hub of humanitarian international organizations. Having good contacts to the concentrated world-leading expertise on both of this challenge fields, allow us to drive this project forward more efficient than anybody. Social Purpose: From Afghanistan to the occupied Palestinian territory, Libya to Iraq, Syria to Ukraine and elsewhere, the use of explosive weapons in populated areas is a major cause of civilian deaths, injuries and displacement. (Source: So, if it is possible to scale down the damage explosions cause to our society, to civilians and people living next door, we need to take action. It is possible. e3e is our solution for this: Peace-keeping / enforcing bodies could reliably monitor conflicts and cease-fire agreements. Humanitarian / relief organisations would be able to use the information to assess damage, needs of civilians and their own operational security. The media would have a more accurate and non-biased picture of events relying less on reports.

3 The general population would know what is happening and where and so be able to make their own security decisions if, for example, they are moving from one town to another. Airlines would be able to verify areas of active conflict and so change flight schedules, paths and their knowledge of secure airports. Lawyers would be able to use the information as evidence in the pursuit of prosecuting war crimes. Academic and organisations including those orientated around conflict and peacebuilding could use the information for a wide variety of research projects. It is hardly possible to measure the exact impact of e3e. Comparing to similar events in the past will gives us a clue of how measurable its results are, while less victims and more happy families will be the real contribution to the peace we are seeking for. Growth: Thanks to the fact that e3e is purely technology based, it is scalable. Technology can be improved, providing higher resolution and more data. Depending on it, we would increase number of subscriptions and their types. This will lead to growth our market.

4 Finance: A budget estimate can be found in the following table. Total required budget: 486,450 EUR Installation of detector systems in at least half of the European Largest cities will result in 2,700,000 EUR income. Further difference between costs and incomes will be matched during next two years by sales of licences and subscriptions, resulting in 850,000 EUR per year*. *Note that numbers considered are rough and can change.

5 Implementation Plan: To successfully implement our business, we have identified following milestones fitting our time scale: 2015: Working prototype is ready; 2016: Partnerships of IO and NGOs; - We was warmly met on ECOSOC's Humanitarian Affairs Segment, where we gave presentation about e3e project and planning to take part in Humanitarian : Official Launch of the e3e worldwide and open for public. Our team consists of following team members and their specialities: Tomoko Muranaka (THE Port & former CERN BE): physicist, detector implementation, technical project management and innovative material specialist. Daniel Dobos (CERN PH): physicist, data communication embedded systems & data filtering specialist. Oliver Keller (CERN Media Lab) R&D engineer, sensors and embedded systems specialist. Robin Coupland (former ICRC): former field surgeon and medical advisor to the ICRC. Leonardo Milano (CERN PH) physicist, detector implementation, data collection and processing specialist. As it can be seen from the list, we have enough expertise to successfully implement first stages of e3e development. Further stages require strong support from UN, Red Cross/Crescent and more humanitarian organizations.
