1 E D I T I O N FEBRUARY 2015 THE EUROPEAN MARINE BUSINESS SHOW PA R I S - PORTE DE VERSAILLES - HALL 6 - FRANCE
2 // EDITORIAL T hose who were there, and many there were, remember it well. As the curtain closed on the first edition of Euromaritime, feedback was focused on emotion, unity and shared success. Such is the magic created by this type of show that brings people together for business but also includes a fundamental human dimension. This was definitely the case for Euromaritime, the European marine business show. 180 exhibitors, over 5,000 professional visitors, 140 key speakers in the conference and workshop programme the figures speak for themselves: Euromaritime was a genuine success. The weekly newspaper le marin and the French Marine Industry Group, actively supported by the French maritime Cluster have quite logically decided to renew the event on a much larger scale. The second edition of Euromaritime will take place in Paris in 2015, at Porte de Versailles in the Parc des Expositions, on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of February. The date is set for all those involved in European marine business, the organizers having once again decided to make Europe the central focus of the project. Europe s 70,000 km of coast on two oceans and four seas is home to 40% of its population. Coastal and marine industries, including shipbuilding and shipping, ports and fisheries and energy, along with coastal tourism, represent 5 million jobs. Coastal regions contribute to 40% of Europe s GDP Euromaritime 2015 will of course build on the fundamental elements that proved so successful in the first edition, with relevant showcases for each sector of activity. Shipbuilding, equipment and repairs as well as renewable marine energies were all immediately at home in the show and their return in 2015 is a sure thing. In parallel, two new sectors are to be introduced: offshore and ports, with no prejudice to the other marine trades. Enough to broaden the scope of Euromaritime and endorsed by conferences and workshops tailor-made for the industry s principle concerns, with an even stronger focus on Europe. The 2015 edition will also see the launch of Eurowaterways, the first ever European river industry show. Same place, same dates, same organisers: the very nature of this sector, while fully deserving a specific professional event, justifies its presence alongside Euromaritime. We look forward to welcoming you back in February 2015 for the second edition of Euromaritime. Our entire team is available to help you prepare for the show and make your participation a real success.
3 Francis Vallat President of Euromaritime President of the European Network of Maritime Clusters
